I'm waiting on my EMF-390 that I just ordered from GQ. I see people with issues and suspect that much of this is user / calibration error.

Would it be best to calibrate these in a faraday cage? The same way you would calibrate a wideband o2 sensor / controller (outside the exhaust system)?

If not, what would be the best way to go about this?

Yes it is ok to calibrate it in faraday cage, there is an option to check for Zero EMF background.
