Hello, I just bought a GMC 600+ to check for potential contamination of spots around some suspected radium lumed antiques in a store I'm visiting. I'm wondering if anyone knows if this procedure is good or could recommend better methods.

1. Set the Fast Estimate time to 10 seconds, restart, and set aside for a few minutes away from the testing area.

2. Hover above the area 1 to 2 cm away and sweep at a speed of 2 cm/s.

3. If a spike occurs (anything above 60 CPM, my background is usually 30 to 42 CPM) wait for 10 seconds above where the spike occurred, and if it continues without dropping back down to near background, consider that spot contaminated.

Any critique or better resources welcome!

Seems like a good plan for spotting contaminated areas.
