Hi,

I have a GMC-300 with the software GQ GMC data viewer R 1.30 and the prolific USB gets com port 16 assigned. The software doesn't go that far (maximum com 12).

Windows 7 with many USB's...

Any idea to be able to connect?

Thanks in advance

You may need to change the comport number to lower value. Do it from device manager and click on propertiy.

I am experiencing the same issue. I've opened the Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port in device manager but see no way to change the port number. Despite being logged on as an admin I'm told I need registry write permissions when I click the 'advanced' button in properties. Do I need to click 'advanced' as well as 'properties' to change port number?
Will you please describe how that can be done. ZLM?

Of course, a better solution would be to make the software compatible with Windows 7 and above.
Here is the Device Manager view. I don't see anything identified as Prolific. Can you please help me identify it in this view?

In Control Panel | Hardware and Sound | Devices and Printers - the Prolific adapter is shown. When I right click it this is the result. But I see no way of changing the port number. Can you please tell me how to accomplish that?

Thank you
Janis

The only thing you need to know is the comport number.

Here your comport is COM19.

Do not need to change anything else.

Need help with setup.
Windows 7
Driver version 3.4.25.218
Under the device manager Ports (COM & LPT)I can see the Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM11).
There is no device listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
In the data viewer when I go to setting to change the serial port to com11, I keep getting the error (Com port open error).
I have tried changing port setting to match the driver... rate, parity, etc. and still the same error.

Can anyone help?

Try to download the latest Data Viewer software. It has Auto Detect menu item. Try to auto dedetect the unit.

I installed Re 2.01 and ran the autoscan. The data viewer software was unable to open any port. I checked window7 drivers for com ports and the driver is still listed on com11. Any other suggestions?

your comport may beused by another application. Check all other apps and close if it uses comport.

OR try to turn off the GMC-300, disconnect the usb cable.

then

connect the usb cable, turn on the GMC-300 and try again,
