It appears that it takes my 390 many hours to charge, and doesn't fully charge at that. 3 or 4 hours gets it to 40% or 50%, and 10 hours gets it near 90%... Is this to be expected of this device?

For safety consideration, the charging current is designed on 250mA. The battery is 2600mAh. That means the charging time from 20% to 100% takes about 8 hours. However, if your charger can not supply 250mA current, then you may need longer time to charge the battery to 100%.

I'll time it and see how it goes, thank you!
It seems that the battery drains pretty rapidly as well, would you know hope long it should last from a full charge?

If the battery needs to be replaced, what type do I need to look for?

It should last for 1-2 days when using continuously.
You can find it from online or battery stores. You can look at the name/size by opening the battery compartment.

I have a 2 A samsung charger.
As the design is for 250 mA do you think it would damage the charger
circuit ?
If not,do you think it would shorten the life of the battery ?
