last Sunday i received my GMC-320Plus. it is my first counter and so far I like it however i don't have anything to test it on yet. it shows background radiation at about 20-30 CPM. I that fresh dryer lint emits radiation so i tried it and nothing seemed to happen.

Try your smoke detector. You have to line up the tube (bottom of device) to the source (center? of the smoke detector) if its still installed with cover.

You may be out of luck, and the smoke detector does not use any radioactive source! In Germany they do not seem to be available at all.

However, Potassium may be your friend, and may already be in your household; try cocoa powder. See "Potty Training" in https://sourceforge.net/projects/geigerlog/files/Articles/

But you can also try other candidates: bathroom / kitchen floor and wall tiles, granite countertops. It may take a while (30 min) to see a statistically relevant signal; the radioactive content is low. Be patient.
