Dear all,
Is it possible to use GQ EMF 390 device to measure magnetic field intensity of a wire coil, which is connected to direct current? This is essentially a weak electromagnet, and the strength of magnetic field should be within limits of 80 to 400 Gauss. I need to test it, because it is part of the medical equipment provided to my mother. I hope that somebody can provide a prompt answer.
Best regards - raimondsgr

If it is using DC, it will not read the field (only on power up). Once the current stabilizes, it wont pick up the field anymore. |

If you move the unit across the magnet it will register. But the reading is not measuring the actual strength of the field, but the ability of the field to induce a current in the detector. Thus, the faster you move the unit across the magnet, the higher the reading. When the magnet is off, the reading should be zero unless the equipment is producing some other field. |
