Logging to server via WiFi connection

I have a problem - I am connecting to wifi ok. "Test server connection" does not return a confirmation nor error. Website set to www.gmcmap.com, url is log2.asp. I have a registration id and geiger id. Auto update is failing from the unit.

I am registered with both user ID and Geiger counter ID on the website. (Everything ok via PC gq gmc data viewer) but not via Wifi ?

Help appreciated

GMC320 plus V5, Rev:5.12

Hmmm, 10.0.0.99 looks good. Then the router gateway should be in this IP range 10.0.0.xxx with the subnetmask 255.255.255.0

At the moment I do not know anymore. Maybe a factory reset of the GMC will help.

Yes, that's correct. I need to log in via 10.0.0.xxx to my telecom provider to manage devices etc. I can see there that gmc-320 is registered ok on lan. It's probably something that blocks me from getting out. I know too little about exactly this so I get to inquire a bit with this. Thanks for your help so far.

Did a factory reset of the gmc-320, unfortunately it did not help. All suggestions are welcome

Hi

Period is set to 1.

"Test server connection" does not return a confirmation nor error.
It's just fade out when the display backlight goes off.

For me, this still looks like a routing problem. Or the DNS name is not resolved.

1) You can try instead of the server web address www.gmcmap.com the IP 184.168.224.226 to enter. If it works then the DNS name is not resolved from the GMC.

2) If you have a smartphone, you can turn on a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect the GMC via this hotspot. If it works, the problem is with the router.

Hmmm, Remote diagnostics are always a bit difficult to create.

"Geo-Johnny". Tried to enter the IP address. No change. I will now try the hotspot via mobile.

"Emfdev". Yes I will now try to set up a hotspot via mobile phone.

I have tried to enter data both directly to the GMC-320 and via the data viewer with the same result.

Thank you for helping me solve this problem.

If the URL can not be resolved, this can have several causes. Either a wrong DNS server is registered in the router or a firewall is running for some clients. I do not know what is allowed by your provider to change something on the router? If it does not work with the GQ Worldmap Server IP, a firewall can be the problem.

If it works via the mobile hotspot of a smartphone, or via another Wi-Fi network, for example, neighbor or friend, then the problem is clearly on your router. If it does not work over another WLAN, the error lies with the GMC.

I have now set up and activated a hotspot on my mobile phone. Added the new SSID and new password from mobile on to the GMC-320plus V5 now v5.52. Test: "WiFi contact perfect".

But when I test server I get exactly the same as with modem / router connection. "Does not return a confirmation nor error".
Strange.

But then i suppose I can conclude that there is NOT something wrong / blocking on the router / modem since I achieve the same result via HotSpot.

Good to know that there is a new firmware.

But in the history with the server login I know no more advice. Maybe it's just a typo in the User- or Counter ID? Example 0 or O

Yes the 0 in the beginning might try to remove it. Also maybe try to reregister a new geiger counter on the website and delete the current one.

Thank you very much for your help both of you, I had hardly figured this out myself.

... and now its also logging OK via my router. GREAT !
Imagine it was just a "zero digit" that messed it all up.

The work was not in vain, you learn a lot with such simple mistakes. But it is very mystical the whole story, because I have entered the leading zero on both my devices and it runs without problems. Typing mistakes can make life really hard for you, it is often to despair.

Yes thank you. Yes it is a strange mistake, because on the web id there is still a zero in front of the ID number, and as you said, you can use a zero in ID. and it works. Yes it is strange. But, the most important thing now is that it works. Now I can assist other users IF they should experience the same error as i did.

No problem, you're welcome. We need to stick together, whether in America or Europe, because we could all be victims of a failed nuclear policy.
