Hi everyone,
I’m a regular user of GQ Geiger counters and have been using them for both hobby and basic environmental monitoring for some time. My main unit is a GQ GMC-320+, firmware updated to the latest available version, mostly used for background radiation checks indoors and occasional outdoor measurements. I usually log data via USB to a Windows PC, with default CPM and µSv/h settings, and the device has always been reliable until recently.
Over the past few days, I’ve started noticing a few issues. First, the readings have become unstable, showing sudden spikes even when the counter is stationary in a low-background area where values were previously consistent. Second, the USB connection intermittently drops, causing the data logging software to disconnect unless I reconnect the cable or restart the device. I’ve tried resetting the unit, using a different USB cable and port, and running it on battery only, but the problem persists.
Has anyone experienced similar behavior with the GMC-320+ or other GQ models? I’d really appreciate any advice on whether this could be a sensor issue, firmware-related, or something else I should check before considering repair or replacement. Thanks in advance for your help.
