Exactly where are the sensors located in the EMF-380 so I know the best way to hold the unit for the best accuracy?

Hello ! I drew something related to what you said, to make sure I really understand well. In the manual of EMF-390 revision 1.90 page 7 it's written:

Hold and position the meter
To get as accurate reading as possible, always point the
meter front (sensors) side to the source.

(Y direction is preferable)

QUESTION 1: The front sensor side in the manual, is it the back, the top of the face from my own images?
QUESTION 2: Can you validate that my drawing is right, especially the directions of X,Y,Z?
QUESTION 3: On any given situation, should I hold the meter in a laying position like Image C or in an upright position like A-B ?

Upright position = The top facing the sky
Laying position = The top facing a person in front of me.

Hi ellie, the X, Y, and Z sensors are for EMF and they are cylindrical in shape. The X points toward/away from the buttons/screen. Y points sideways, and Z points up/down. The EF sensor is rectangular in shape and is flat and the orientation is also sideways but is perpendicular to direction of screen).

Regarding orientation, can someone please better explain the meaning of the red squares showing X Y Z, I am a bit confused.

If I am specifically looking for EF, it says I would want to use the Y direction. What position should I hold the meter in, and with what side/edge should face the item I am checking?

The EF should pick up with same direction as the X, Y, and Z. However Y direction is preferable.

Please describe the RF sensor. I assume that at low and mid frequencies it only picks up the electric field component normal to the face of the instrument and judging by the size I think it could be true for the highest frequency as well. Is this sensor used for all the ranges of the spectrum analyzer?
