thank you.

Geiger counters are designed to not detect UV. However in some cases where a tube did not meet the specs 100%, it may be able to detect UV.

My question is still there :
does the GMC-300E have a reading on the 100–280 nm band (uv-c)
when exposing the lamp ?
please technical support only ,thank you.

I am trying to detect UV-c with this 300e as
you guessed.

@tartaria: please check again the meaning of ionizing radiation.

A simple goo search shows (CDC - Centers for Disease Control):

What is ionizing radiation?

Ionizing radiation is a form of energy that acts by removing electrons from atoms and molecules of materials that include air, water, and living tissue. Ionizing radiation can travel unseen and pass through these materials.

Breaking up double bonds in organic material is not the same as ionization.

In the case of light sensitivity of Geiger tubes, it is yet a different effect, namely the photoelectric effect. Einstein got his only Noble prize for the discovery of this effect.

UV-C is ionizing in the frequency band , please check again.

a simple goo search:
"It is this ionization function that drives UV-C's power to alter chemical bonds. The 254 nm wavelength carries enough
energy to excite doubly-bonded molecules into a permanent chemical rearrangement, causing
lasting damage to DNA, ultimately killing the cell."

In theory NO because UV is not ionizing radiation. In practice, some GMC devices and other brands may be sensitive to light and may erroneously add counts to the real ionizing radiation counts making the data useless or incorrect

Following are two discussions confirming that some GMC counters are light sensitive
