Posted - 10/10/2019 : 13:12:05 Hi!
I am about to buy a GQ Geiger counter which I intent to use just for fun and curiosity around public areas in Germany, and maybe checking out a few rocks I collected. I also would like to make some time series measurements and look at the graphs.
After reading a bit in this (really great!) forum, my choices came down to either the GMC-500 or the GMC-500+. I find the price difference between the two negligible, and the GMC-500+ seems to be a bit more fun to play with due to the two tubes.
However, after what I read here, I am not sure if the 2nd tube also makes the devices readings hard to interpret due to the tube interference.
Furthermore, I suspect the 2nd tube will never register anything anyway for me, since I don't expect to come across any seriously radioactive material anytime soon.
What do you think, should I get the GMC-500 or the GMC-500+?

And it's only going to get better as new firmware updates open more functionality. Happy to guide you through the menus. That's what the forum is for.
