Hi, bought a GCM-600+, it was working fine.
Turned off for a few days. Today I turned on and it shows 0 CPM. Not a single one. The device was never bumped or anything like that. Is there a way to fix it? tried factory reset, nothing helps.
Battery never discharged, was always at 99%. |

Of course,now that I contacted support,my device works perfectly.
I just logged 4 hours of data to the Map.
All readings are in normal range.
I think I will wait and see how it behaves. |

Thanks Stargazer_40 for the support. @paul sorry to hear that. When you put it back, make sure the upper end of the sensor the one connected to the red wire it put tightly. You can turn it right or left. Also in the PCB end of the terminals. It' possible that there is part of the positive and negative to to touch the PCB causing it to get 0 PCM. Make sure those are not touching the PCB also. |

I would not just give up on it.Sometimes it works.
And while it is snug,there are not a lot of moving parts.
It does not appear damaged at all,which is the frustrating part.
If there were something obivious it would be easier to fix like
ortegaalfredo did.
So yes ,I will contact support.

It kinda sounds like you may already have damaged something by opening it up repeatedly. Components are snug in the 600+. This is GQ's most expensive meter. Hindsight is 20-20, but shipping it back to GQ is but a small portion of the price compared to simply give up on it. Yes it will take some time, but you'll come out ahead on the investment. I would suggest you contact support and see how they would like you to proceed (and stay out of the meter). I have five GQ meters including the 600+. The 600+ is the best value out there as an alpha beta and gamma detector. Features that go way beyond higher end competitors. And GQ continues to improve the design through both firmware and hardware additions. And they do back the product completely. Please contact support. |

Funny,just turned it on to check the,REV,- 2.07,and it works....
But as I move it and tilt it,it goes berserk again,obviously connection
problem somewhere.
Still not sure what to do.

Exact same thing happened to me.Twice.
Put it in storage ,bring it out,no CPM.
This time when I reseated the connectors and put it back together,I turn it on and the alarm goes on,the LED goes red and it says there is
over 23000 uSVhr.The graph is totally black and the CPM is --- at the top and over 8000000 below.
I've used a multimeter to check the wires,all OK.Continuity is fine.
No short circuit.Board looks good.
I've opened it many times now.The last time I closed it,and it Worked!
Now an hour later I try again,to log onto the map,and it is broken again.
Kinda sick of it.
And now scared that I will eventually break something,opening and closing it.
Would be very annoying and expensive to send it all the way back to
USA when sometimes it works.I think it is a cable issue.
But not sure what else to do.

Maybe it's the wire issue? Maybe it's broken. But sorry for this inconvenience. Even if the terminals are not soldered, it should make really solid contact. Or did you mean the red wire? That one is positive. |

Just want to add, the problem resurfaced. Fixed it again be replacing one of the terminals (The negative) from the pancake sensor to the main board.
Its easily fixed but the terminals are not soldered, just used pression to make an electrical contact so it must be warned that this device is not very resistant to vibrations. |

Hi EmfDev.
Increased tube voltage but that did nothing. However I dissasembled it, reseated all connectors and guess what, its fixed!
Apparently it was a false-contact with the tube. It looks like its working fine now.

If still doesn't work, you can try to open the case and check if somehow the sensor got disconnected. If you're not confident to do it, you can email customer support at support@gqelectronicsllc.com. |

Pancake sensor looks perfect from the outside but I didnt dissasemble it yet. |

Look closely at the pancake probe with a flashlight, see if you can spot any cracks or damage. |
