Before you say it, yes I know about the potentiometer. My GM tube is the SI-3BG and it is clicking like mad no matter what setting the trim pot is on. What could be the problem?

Update: I tested another tube (SBM-20) and a quick adjust; works a treat. Could this be a possible bad tube?
