I have a very simple linux box lying around in my DMZ for years that sits there all day not doing much except (rarely) serving up photos and lets me get to my email. WONDERING (once i fix a registration problem with my GMC200)- what are the options to get my GMC-200 stats online? Is there a linux version of CDVCounter or something similar out there?
My linux box has a sound card, but no idea how to do this as my linux skills are very limited.
Any suggestions anyone?  |

The GMC-300 has built-in serial port. It can output data every seconds with counted data. So, it will be much accurate than use 3.5mm audio signal when counting a high rate.

I have several counters (including the GMC-200) connected to Linux. I chose to use a serial (USB -> serial adapter) instead of the soundcard route. This obviously allows me to work with more than one counter at a time. The GMC-200 headphone audio output needs some adjustment with a small external circuit in order to get it to the proper serial port levels. You can make this with about $5 in parts from Radio Shack.
I believe the GMC-300 has native serial support, so Linux support for it shouldn't involve any external circuitry. I'll gladly develop the GMC-300 software if GQ can supply one.
Have a peek at a few of my counters, including the GMC-200.

thanks. yeah I understand that the software works on windows only. Wondering has anyone done a project to capture a series of clicks (similar to CDVCounter?)... except on Linux? I do not want to copy/paste data. Just a simple linux-compatible audio capture software that can count and have the smartness to convert the frequency of clicks, width and height of the clicks to (say) #956;Sv/hr. If I was smart I'd create the code myself ...
Just wonderin' if anyone's aware of anything like this for linux :-)
