I have a 300E Plus

The User Guide says it takes a 9V battery.

However, mine came with a 3.7v Li-Ion 14500 type battery.

This is confusing?

Yes it is confusing. Unfortunately they dont update the guide anymore. Every GMC has a 14500 now. (For a couple years)

My statements are "stuff-a-hobbyist-says" and not in any way professional.

The user guides are hopeless.
Lots of old bits referring to different older models.

Well yes, obviously.

But for instance, the latest GMC-500+ guide says things like "Only the GMC-320 has xxxx" when in fact the GMC-500 has it too.

Very sloppy.
