good morning, I am new here and would like to introduce myself. I am 63 years old and I live in the north of the Netherlands. I have been retired since 2020 and have the weather as a hobby. The website is https://weerstationbijdetoren.nl. Now I'm looking for new measuring equipment. I'm thinking of measuring radioactivity. What is a good geiger counter. Maybe GMC 320plus V5. Or do you have a different opinion?? Like to hear Gr Engelbert |

Hello and welcome. It all depends on WHAT are you trying to measure as there are different counters out there. There are counters that can measure Beta and Gamma radiation which are the cheapest, but if you want to measure also Alpha then you should get a higher quality and obviously more costly device that can measure the three of them |

Welcome! Looking at your weather-station site, I'd say what you need to complement this with radioactivity measurements is a counter which can measure gamma to get the background radiation level. In other words, any counter will do!
As you seem to be auto-updating your site, the counter would need to allow a computer connection, either by wire or wireless.
Looking at GQ counters, any device would qualify for measurements, GMC-300E+, GMC-320, GMC-500, GMC-500+. (The GMC-600 is well beyond what you need). The 300 series allows a wired connection only; the 500 series allows WiFi in addition.
Due to firmware bugs it is not trivial to connect a GMC-500 to any WiFi network, but it is possible. Given the complexity of your site, I am sure you could handle it.
The 2nd tube in a 500+ is really of no benefit, but then you can switch it off and it does not harm anything.
The case of a 500 is sturdier than that of a 300.
