Hi there, I bought the 500+ and thinking about buying a protective pouch because the meter itself is not waterproof or dust proof. Because there is no original protective case for it, I’m interested in this JOTO pouch which still allows me to use it whilst it is in its bag and protecting it from dust and rain. I live in the desert and Sand storms and dust are a problem. NOW MY QUESTION: If I operate the 500+ is the result of the radiation measurement different if it’s in the slim plastic bag compared to if it’s be used without it? Thanks for your help!

The 500+ should remain largely unaffected by a thin soft plastic container such as this. This model is not sensitive to alpha radiation like the 600+. Worst case scenario the detector won't pick up quite as much beta radiation, and that's mostly due to not being able to get that little bit closer to whatever you're measuring.

Thanks. Can’t be wrong spending 8 AUD to check it out. It’s really thin and just keeping rain and dust from nasty weather away when I’m on my travels.

not sure the Joto is big enough,
the dimensions of the 500+ are 78x24x136mm

Mastery is acquired by studying, with it everything becomes simple

I have ordered it anyway. Will report soonest I have received it, if it’s a good alternative to protect the device in rain and dusty conditions.

Yes, quite happy spending 7A$ for this. I tested it too and put it under water. Seems to be waterproof though I only needed dust and rain protection.

Yes, it does, if there wouldn't be the static field when touching it... Is that a reason why GQ does not offer such a solution for this device?
