4 visits to my cardiologist's have shown 1000 CPM on my gmc-200 attached to the iPhone4 display in the waiting room beneath 3 large 'AC vents', up from the steady 20 CPM background everywhere in the desert cities CA area, but yesterday I took an Inspector EXP which only increased from it's normal 50 background to 300 CPM. On my thorium disk check source, my Vaseline glass, my HEPA filter and my Metlox Poppy Trail serving plate (8000 CPM !) the EXP reads 5X to 12X higher. Any explanation of what radiation in the doctor's waiting room would read higher on the M4011 gm tube vs. the 2" EXP mica wand ? (It's not a radiology patient). Thanks...
Each tube has different response to the radiation, even same source. Because they have different sensitivities. So, there is no point to compare two different tube readings on CPM. You need to calibrate your iPone4 s reading to uSv/h, and then compare different tube reading with uSv/h OR mR/h. Also, the software settings may affect the readings.
