I'm thinking about getting a GMC 320 or GMC 300 and then wiring in an alpha detecting tube as well.
I like the 320 over the 300, mostly because of the additional memory.
I also looked at some DIY kits but it seems more complicated to add internal storage memory and have to solder everything when I can get something already mostly assembled which has a nice IU.
Some questions..
1. Can I use 3 * NIMH cells in place of the lithium battery. Would that charge properly? What about a larger Lithium cell?
2. Is the max CPM on the 320 65k?
3. Does the 320 have the same issue as the 300 that the counting is different with the speaker on/off? If so, what is the eta for diagnosing the cause and whether a solution is possible?
4. What else am I forgetting to ask? ;-)
Thanks! Mark

1. three NIMH cells does not work on GMC-320. There is no space to put 3 * NIMH cells. The charging circuit is designed for Li-ion. It may not work well on 3 * NIMH cells.
2. Yes. The maximume CPM is 65K on GMC-320
3. This is a firmware bug I believe, it should be fixed in the new GMC firmware.

Thanks ZLM.
Is the firmware a download when it is fixed? I looked on your site and don't see any firmwares.
When do you expect the next firmware update?
Thanks, Mark

So two questions:
1. If I put in an order now for the 320. I would get a unit shipped on Nov 22 with the fix?
2. How are future firmwares distributed?
Thanks Mark |

Yes. The current GMC-320 has latest firmware. The firmware only can be upgraded from GQ. The firmware upgrade is free. |

One more question :-)
If I want to change the tube, the 320 allows voltage adjustment up to 900v like the other units, right? |

GMC-320 has different high voltage circuit. The voltage is adjustable, as I know tube voltage to 350V-550V is not a problem, but I need to confirm the maximum voltage. |

The unit only supports up to 550V. If you want to get 700V,then you may need to modify the circuit.

Thanks, ZLM.
The 300 will support 700V and would still include the new firmware with the the fix, right? |

yes. The current version of GMC-300E is able to provide 700V and it has a new firmware with the fix.

Are the GMC-300E devices currently in stock? The website has indicated for a while that they'll be in 'next week' |
