Hi there - Had my GMC-200 for a while and noticed that the LED was going crazy one night. Replaced the battery and everything seemed ok for 1 day. Back to going crazy with the LED (Mayan apocalypse? :-)) Anyway I can see a little tiny particle loose in the tube - do you think this could be causing the false alarms?
If so, which tube is recommended as the best/easiest to replace it with?
Check your tube voltage, if it is shifted, then turn it lower. If your have 11M ohm multi meter, then the correct voltage should be about 170~180V on a 1000V range of meter. If it still does not fix the problem, then you need change the tube. Change the tube does not need soldering. It has clips and ties.
Then you can purchase a M4011 tube install yourself.
But you need to make sure it is the tube problem:
use a metal screw driver to touch the tube positive, the unit should have "click" sound. Also, check the voltage on tube, and make sure the voltage on tube is correct.
