All the software works except the GQ GMC Pro. It worked for a day. Now it shows up as running in Window$ processes but nothing shows on the screen. I'm using a very old, stable Window$ XP. I've tried un-installing all GQ software and re-installing, shutting down all startup stuff, etc. No improvement. Any suggestions??

Love the GMC-300 already found some radioactive glass at the thrift shop - they gave it to me! And a really hot old clock in my wife's junk.

This is intersting. Never happened on any other. Try to end that process and restart again. Check if there are any real-time software running.

ZLM - Right on! I stopped all services. I stopped all startup programs. I used the System Configuration Utility. GMCounter PRO then ran fine. I went back and restarted each service/program. the service titled "Windows Audio" was causing the problem. I still must find out how to get my audio to work but at least the GMCounter Pro is working. (Yes I have current Dell audio drivers!).

If you have any suggestions they are welcome.

Best,

Walt

Seems to be the Dell SigmaTel audio driver. With it disabled the GQ GMCounter Pro works. However I have no sound!

Suggestions Welcome.

Try: In Window task processes list, right click on the GQ GMCounter Pro and select "Set Priority -> High"

ZLM - no joy. I turned the SigmaTel audio back on, started GQ GMCounter and then Task Manager. I right clicked the GMCounter process and set the priority "High". No change. As soon as I unselected the SigmaTel audio. GMCounter started fine.

Some conflict between GMCounter and SigmaTel Audio. But What? I've poked until my fingers are tired. This is an old Dell D430 and has been very reliable over the years.

Is SigmaTel audio driver OR software? If it is software, then you still can get the audio even if you exit it.

I do not have any idea why the audio driver.

ZLM - SigmaTel is a audio chipset on the laptop motherboard and has a driver. In this case it is a SigmaTel Dell driver (D430 model computer). There is no "software" - control is all in the driver. The driver has some settings (volume, inputs, etc), but I have adjusted them all. I also have a Creative SB PCMCIA card that was laying around so I just installed it to see if it worked. With it in and the SigmaTel "OFF" I can get audio through speakers or headphones (but not through the computer speakers). I reinstalled the latest SigmaTel driver from Dell - no change. For now I plan to leave the Creative PCMCIA card installed and use some external speakers. Still there is some conflict with SigmaTel.

Suggestions Welcome.

FIXED !!!

I usually disable microphones in the BIOS (security don't ya know). Sure enough when I changed the BIOS to activate the mic GQ GMCounter Pro ran fine. Duh.

Thanks ZLM for the suggestions.
