Here are the steps for testing/detecting radiation on a particular item:

Remove your test item from GNMC-200, wait for at least one 1-3 minutes after software started. When you see a CPM around 10-20, then that is the background radiation noise.

If you see the Total: 0, means the software not start to count yet.

The total is not important, the important value is CPM. Not the mR/h, uSv/h. Both mR/h and uSv/h are calculated from CPM.

Once you have some relatively stable reading of your background CPM, then place your test item beside the GMC-200 top edge, where the Geiger Counter tube installed.

Check if the CPM changes after at least 1 minute. If no change, then the testing source has no radiation. If the CPM goes higher, the source has radiation.
