Hi,

First post here. I just downloaded and installed the GQ GMC data viewer Rev 2.71 on a Windows 10 Pro 64 computer.

I have a GQ Electronics GMC-320 Plus V4. I cannot seem to download data to the computer. Is the data connection via the USP connector on the GM-320 or do I need to use the audio connection through the sound card?

Is there written manual for this software and counter combination?

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance!

Best,

Joe

You must connect it via USB. Go to device manager and check under Ports (COM&LPT) for USB-Serial CH340 and get the COM#. There is guide on the user manual.

Thank you for the response. I tried everything in the manual, nothing worked. I uninstalled the GC data viewer. I verified that the PORT COM/LPT is working (com 3). I have the driver the CH341SER properly installed. After removing the GQ Data viewer, the computer recognizes my GMC320 Plus V4 counter.

When the data viewer was installed, it would tell me that there was an error opening com 3. no data could be down loaded.

My computer is a windows 10 pro 64 bit (confirmed). It is brand new install of Windows 10 Pro 60.

I think that the data viewer software was for the GMC-320-Plus V3 and lower. I have THE V4.

I could not find a program on the download page that specifically stated that it was for the GMC-320 V4.

Any advice is most welcome. I am willing to pay for the software if that would work better.

Again,

Thank you very much,

Joe

You can use GeigerLog https://sourceforge.net/projects/geigerlog/

It is free and Open Source, and supports many GQ and other companie's devices, including all variants of the GMC-320.

Hi Again,

I down loaded Geiger Log today, and Python 3.11.9 (which was recommended in the Geiger Log manual. I edited the config file to activate the GQ units. I made sure that the path option was installed for Python.

The last step in the manual is to run the set up for Geiger Log. That is where I am stumped. There is no real instruction how to run the setup for Geiger Log. I apologize, but computers for me are communication devices. I unfortunately am not a computer person. I am sure that this is a very simple thing to do, but I do not know how to do so. I tried to use the windows cmd.exe using the task manager to start a new task. That did not work. I tried to run it by typing the command directly into the Python command screen and that did not work.

Any suggestions would be most welcome. I apologize for such basic questions.

thankyou very much,

Joe

When you start GeigerLog in a terminal, you will get this response:

quote:
############################################ GeigerLog Startup #############################################
Checking for Working Directory
Current Directory: C:\geigerlog
Found file 'geigerlog.py'; taking this as GeigerLog working directory!
Checking for Virtual Environment
A Virtual Environment does NOT exist - Please, start GeigerLog with 'GeigerLog.bat setup'

Read the last sentence.

Or look into the manual, chapter "Installing and Starting GeigerLog".

Is this insufficient? What other information do you need?

for the Data viewer, what is the error message when trying to open GMC-320 at COM3 -> Connect?

On your GMC-320, go to Main Menu -> Others -> Baud rate and check to make sure it is set to 115200.

Hi Again,

I got the GQ Data Viewer to work! I wound up having to go into the control panel and manually set the COM 3 port to 115200 baud. Did that and now it works. Now I will start studying the manual to learn how to use and manipulate the raw data.

Thank you all again!

Joe
