There is a value printed on the label just under the current knob, 0.6A~2A protection current control. The minimum protection is 600mA.

That means the current protection is about 0.6 to2A. Any current less than 0.6A will not active the short circuit protection function.

Here is the steps to test the protection function:

1. Turn the current knob to most left(minimum current, 0.6A)
2. Turn the voltage knob to the most left( 0V)
3. Shor the + and - probes.
4. Slowly increase the voltage, you should see the current increase from 0. When the current reaches it minimum protection level(About 0.6A~0.7A), the unit turn off the output the the green LED on. In this state, only power off button will reset the state.
5. Increase current a little bit, and then increase the voltage from 0, you should see the protection current limit is increased based on the position of the current knob.
