One of the first things I did after getting my 300E+ was check my 1996 Ukrainian coin that was minted in Kiev for the tenth anniversary of Chernobyl. I got it directly from Ukraine on eBay via a coin collector living northeast of Kiev, almost due East from Chernobyl itself, so the coin had spent it's entire life in a fairly close range to Chernobyl.

I wasn't expecting it to be hot, and it wasn't, I just thought it was an interesting thing to check. The pictured level is the highest reading I got from it, putting the base of the unit in direct contact with the coin after removing it from the plastic protector didn't produce any higher counts.

(Excuse the bright backlight, it was still on factory default, level 8 I believe.)

If you still suspect it should have higher radiation, try Timed Count and check to total counts and compare it to the background total counts at same duration to see if there's a significant difference.

Yeah, I actually get a slightly higher background over my keyboard, absolutely nothing from the coin.

Looks like the 25 CPM is just a background and nothing really is coming from the coin.
