If you keep getting com errors regardless of what, open Device Manager and see what driver pops up.
I had an issue where it would call the RAMPS driver (for Matterhacker 3D Printer crap) whenever the 300 was plugged in.
I tried just uninstalling the driver from the Device Mangler but it still kept coming up as RAMPS on some COM port
So then I recalled this post
https://superuser.com/questions/1393737/how-to-completely-uninstall-usb-device-i-e-mouse-or-keyboard-driver
Where it states:
"Go to Device Manager or alternatively run the command (WindowsKey + R):
devmgmt.msc
Right-click the device you need to uninstall and go to Properties. Select the Details tab and then select INF Name from the drop-down list.
Once you have the INF Name, type in this command in a command window opened with Admin privileges:
pnputil.exe -d INFName.inf
If you face issues try forced deletion:
pnputil.exe -f -d INFName.inf
"
Worked. Now the GC 300 uses the correct driver. There's something wrong with the device ID that either Matterhackers or GC is using.
