Posted - 10/03/2019 : 22:09:41 So, I have an older GMC-500+ with the clear tube and v1.06 firmware. I've written to GQ support with my serial number about firmware updates, but haven't been able to get back a response.
From what I understand the current firmware is v2.15 or so; and the newer versions have a black glass tube that isn't light sensitive.
At this point I'm wondering if I should just re-buy the 500+ to get the current changes/updates? |

Posted - 03/21/2023 : 23:29:18 The revision reported by the counter is always the revision of the firmware. The circuit board revision does seem to be available only as an imprint on the circuit boards themselves.
Apparently the serial number as reported by the firmware seems to include the board revision.

Posted - 03/21/2023 : 14:33:22 Please enlighten me. For a GMC-500+, "Rev 1.xx" indicates a version 1 CB (circuit board)? Likewise "Rev 2.xx" means a version 2 CB? Are there any firmware updates for a Ver 1 CB beyond Rev 1.12? Thanks. |

Posted - 11/15/2022 : 15:57:55 @762mobius there is a new firmware but is not compatible with your device hardware version. |

Posted - 11/11/2022 : 16:08:35 I have a GMC-500+, Rev 1.12 . Purchased Oct 2017. Is there a new firmware update for this unit? The quirk is it displays accumulated dose as "mR/h". Serial number is available. Thanks. |

Posted - 02/03/2020 : 14:41:06 Thank you very much for the exhaustive and quick answers. I forgot to ask if 2.18 Is the last firmware. Regards |

Posted - 02/03/2020 : 14:05:17 Yes the 2nd tube voltage doesn't support the voltage reading. And the 2nd tube low reading is normal, it's supposed to be much less sensitive than the bigger tube. |

Posted - 02/03/2020 : 13:54:57 Perfect! The button has returned to function properly. You are a serious connoisseur of the product. One last doubt: the voltage of the second tube is not reported unlike the first tube. Look at the pictures. Thanks again for your attention.
Both active: Tube 1 voltage
Tube 2 Voltage
Also I tried to make measurements with only the first tube and then only with the second one. In the first case the size is similar to the 320 plus while with the second the size was very low it seems too low. It's normal? Best regards, Alex |

Posted - 02/03/2020 : 13:08:01 You can try to loosen the screw behind that button a little bit to fix that problem. |

Posted - 02/03/2020 : 12:49:09 I think the button is defective because the other 3 buttons have a clear "click" when I push them, the first one has no push feeling. I will make the return for defective product. |

Posted - 02/03/2020 : 12:36:25 Hello EmfDev, thank you for reply. I found it. Another question: the first button on the left doesn't have a feedback of click when I push it. Is it normal?
Best Regards Alex |

Posted - 02/03/2020 : 10:56:32 Hi macdec, you can change the orientation under Main Menu->Display Options->Swivel Mode. You can change it to vertical so that the Large Text Idle Mode will become vertical.
Edit: It's in Display Settings not user |

I have a problem with my GMC-500 plus. The firmware is 2.18. The screen turns horizontally if it is not perfectly vertical.Very annoying. Any fix for this problem? Thank you |

Posted - 10/20/2019 : 09:32:47 Hi EmfDev.
I have a problem with my GMC-500+, too. The firmware is 1.12 and the CPM count is already "Medium" between 69 an 90. Where can I get a newer firmware for my device. Last year I´ve written the support and they told me, there is no need to update. Can I adjust the measurement?
It does not connet to www.gmcmap.com to upload the measurements, too.
What should I do? |

EMFDev, I sent that (my SN) via the email function here - did you receive it? I suppose it's probably not dangerous to post my SN here though, not sure what anyone would do with it. (Should I just reply here?) |

Posted - 10/04/2019 : 11:36:59 Ok, I'll msg EMFDev right now but - if I were to get a new 500+ i'd want to make sure it was the latest version too... |

Posted - 10/04/2019 : 04:21:15 I also have a 500+ that is not Version 2 level PCB and does not have the voltage divider hardware to add the auto voltage adjust firmware. According to GQ it is not upgradable. My M4011 is painted black, so later than yours, and EmfDef (as we've just seen in the 600 thread) has much better handle on hardware/firmware differences even between these Version 1 PCBs as to what firmware is latest useable for any particular PCB revision. GQ continues to innovate and incorporate new features both in firmware and hardware and at some point I'm sure it's a much better value to simply buy an upgraded 500+. Still, serial number was important to send to support for firmware upgrade so if you haven't sent that it's under the About menu item. |
