HI, this is my first post on these forums, so sorry if i am short and sharp, but, all of a sudden last night, my radiation at home went from Avg. 24.5CPM to around 32-35. I am seriously getting many more counts than usual. Is this a problem or has my background radiation actually rose? Thanks, connor

That is hard to determine. But it is not important if it just happened once. We always use a long time average value to determine the level of radiation.

Here in North France, background CPM naturally vary from 15 to 30. It seems to raise to 30 when weather is rainy.

But some days ago I noticed short bursts with 255 counts par second (1 or 2 sec long) ! Is this a bug, or the consequenc eof the recent massive solar flare ?

Solar activity will often make the counts go higher temporarily.

The 32-35 is not considered high, it is still in a normal range (5-50CPM).

I suggest you just mornitoring for a longer period, to see what is the peak CPM you can get.
