Greetings.
My husband purchased this counter for me for Christmas and I just installed the software to-day. While I had the counter attached to my computer during adjustment/sensitivity calibration, it began to behave oddly; it stopped clicking. Now when I cycle the power it will click for about 5-7 seconds before it stops, even if there is a radiation source nearby (a confirmed 6,000 cpm piece of uranium ore). I cycle the power again, it clicks for the first few seconds, then falls silent. Any suggestions? Is it in an odd mode somehow?

I left the unit unplugged with the battery disconnected over the weekend, and then hooked it back up, and it appears to be detecting for longer than 7 seconds or so (before it would stop detecting after a short period). I haven't hooked it back up to calibrate the software, but with it just plugged into power, it's working as it did out of the box.
Perhaps being disconnected from power reset it somehow? I'll post again if it starts acting odd... how long is the warranty period for in case in starts misbehaving? As I said, it's working fine now, but I'm concerned that I had a glitch so early on.

If the unit stopped the click forever even with radiation source, then it may have some problem. It will not clik if the tube voltage out. It should be arround 400V. Are you able to check the tube voltage?

As I said previously, I tried it NOT connected to my computer, and I still see the same behaviour. It is just attached to wall power, and it registers activity for about 7 seconds before it stops. |

I think it may be related to your Windows. Try on second computer and see if it do same thing. I assume your GMC-200 still sound "Clicks" when the software stop.
The software uses microphone port to read data. So, if your windows microphone level is set to 0, then the software is unable to detect the "clicks" signal.
also, the software is able to adjust gain in the settings to control the input signal level. |

I tried it disconnected from my machine, and it still does the same thing; it detects for about 5-7 seconds then doesn't respond unless I cycle the power. |

It's a GMC -200.
WHen you say microphone settings, what do you mean? I plugged and replugged the counter back in, is there something in the sound settings I need to look at? Thanks!

which model of your counter?
Check your connection and Microphone settings. That will block the counting if it does not not set correctly. |
