Posted - 08/29/2011 : 06:32:20 Ok, so this is my fifth tube I have tested with this system. I just got a new chinese glass M4011 from ebay. It arrived yesterday, but there was a problem with it falling out of the protected bubblewrap. And I noticed there were a few glass chips inside the tube. I contacted the seller and they are letting me keep it for 30 days for testing and if it fails I can get it replaced.
This is a great tube. Its is by far the most sensitive tube I have seen, even more than the SBM-20 which I could not install in this case as it is too long. It is also more sensitive than SI-29BG, LND-7616 and LND-712. I installed it temporarily with clips and wire ties, as I am still in the middle of testing, but I have a feeling I am gonna keep this tube. Now I have two GMC080, one with this tube for gamma and beta background rad, and the other has the LND-7616 for alpha.

Posted - 09/08/2011 : 22:31:53 I just picked up a new tube today. A russian CI-180G, and i gotta tell you with its large size 18mm x 100mm, it sure picks up alot of background rad. Hey, what kinda numbers are you getting with your 6107, cause I can't get past 3000, even with a lower voltage tube like the LND712. It maxes at 3000 with an am pellet on the window. It should be over 100K.
Seems like the GQ 080 is not capable of counting past 3000. But I don't know, cause no one else is responding to my post.

This is the unit I'll be keeping on my person with the M4011 tube. It's more sensitive than the CDV-700. It even senses the Am241 source from a smoke detector through the packaging (not the Alpha radiation) but Beta and Gamma parts are sensed quite well. Try going down the home safety isle at Home Depot with it, you'll "see" the smoke detectors quite well.
