Hello, I have purchased and received this wonderful device. I have installed a Russian SI-29BG geiger tube, and it is working great. I tested it with vaseline beads and a lantern mantle. Plenty of clicks and flashes.

However, when I plug in the data cable, and plug that into my iphone 3GS with geigerbot app, I don't see any of the data being picked up with geigerbot.

What am I doing wrong? is anyone else using geigerbot? I have to because I am on a mac, and am unable to use the pc software to plot the data from the geiger.

Thanks for the update. There are many users use GMC-080, GMC-200 with geigerbot.

Sorry to keep talking about this, but now its not working. It seems the geigerbot app keeps wanting to use the iphone internal mic for input. So the data coming from the 4 conductor cable is not coming through. I have contacted geigerbot to see if they have any suggestions as I don't believe its a problem with the GMC080. It does however work great with just keeping the clicker on, and the iphone mic right next to the 080 speaker hole.

Not sure why, but its all working now, and working awesome. Sorry for all the rants and complaints. THanks GQ for an awesome product. Now I can take this baby on the road, and also do live stream to pachube. Thanks again.

Well I got the 4 conductor cable and plugged into the data port and into my iPhone. Fired up Geigerbot and the gmc080 and I still don't get any data going to Geigerbot. Anyone??? Your company states that this kit will work with Geigerbot and iPhone with a cable but that doesnt seem to be true. What am I doing wrong???

Theoretically, the plastic case should not affect the beta and gamma ray. It only blocks alpha ray.

It may be the distance is increased a bit from your source to tube.

While waiting to get my data cable, I decided to try something. I plugged my iphone headset into the data out of the geiger, and put one of the ear pods next to the iphone mic. Geigerbot is definitely counting the clicks, but doesn't seem that accurate as the numbers seem quite lower than another geiger I have. Also, I noticed that the plastic case really lowers the numbers down when testing with samples. anyone else notice this?

Thanks for the reply. You were right. The included cable will not work as it is stereo. A 4 conductor is the type needed.

Yes I could use the iphone mic, but I want to keep it silent without the clicking. I found a good source for the 4 conductor 1/8" cable. Minute Man Electronics has a 6 footer for 2.50 and a 10 footer for 5.50.

I think you need a 4 conductor connector for the mic input on an iphone.
Look at your wired hands free adapter and you'll see 3 dark stripes (insulators). The mic is the 2 shiney stripes (conductors) closest the wire coming out the back.
The 2 dark stripe 1/8" phono connector won't get the mic input on any smart phone really, not just iphones.
You can adapt it if you can find a solder on 4 conductor 1/8" phono connector.

Good luck.

Btw, doesn't geigerbot use the built in mic if you don't plug one in?
