X'mas Promo!This new PIC programmer is compatible with original PICStart Plus programmer. It works with standard Microchip's MPLAB IDE software, and the firmware can be upgraded from MPLAB IDE software to support the latest devices. The programmer contains some enhancements and modification compare to the original version. Such as:
1. Added the USB port as the power supply, so that it has compact size. It used an on board DC-DC converter so that to get all voltage needed. Use ASIC replaced original discrete components, highly integrated and working more stable.
2. Enhanced target MCU Vcc supply channel. This solved low current issue in original programmer. (The original programmer only use a DG411 to provide limited target DC current). This programmer added 6 high current transistors to provide current to target device, so that more devices can be supported.
3. On board JDM engine. No extra programmer needed for on board core MCU-18F6720 upgrading(this only needed when the MCU-18F6720 replacement or repairing). It will be done just by setting a single jumper, and using the serial port with generic JDM software. So, upgrading PICStart programmer MCU with no pain.
4.The upgrading to latest firmware OS is done by the MPLAB IDE. So that to support the latest chip set. The programmer comes with the firmware. User is able to upgrade to latest OS in the future from the MPLAB IDE.
5. The programmer made from high quality components.Eg. Gold plated ZIF socket.So that to ensure the success rate of programming.
